Frantziako trenbide-museo nazionala, gaur egun La Cité du Train (Trenaren hiria) izena duena, Alsaziako Mulhouse herrian dago, Suitza eta Alemaniako mugetatik oso gertu. Herrialde horietan egon zen sartuta historiako uneren batean. 1971ko ekainaren 12tik aurrera, tren-ibilgailuen bilduma ikusgarria dago, Frantziako trenbidearen historiaren etapa ugariak biltzen dituena, hasieratik gaur egun arte, Frantziako trenak abiaduraren sinonimo diren arte.Mulhousera iritsi zen lehen trenbidea 1839.09.01ean hasi zen, hiri horrek Thanekin bat egin zuenean. (50 urte bete ziren Frantziako iraultzatik).
Hala ere, aipatzekoa da 1837.08.24an Paris eta Saint Germain (Le Pecq) artean inauguratu zen Frantziako lehen trenbidea, edo Saint Étienne eta Andrezieux artean odolez tiratu zuen lehena, 1827.06.30ekoa.
